What do you think of this excerpt of my story?

I sat outside by the pool on a warm summer afternoon. You know the type, with the light breeze, no clouds in the sky, the smell of neighbors barbecuing next door. It was perfect, even though I could have been in Hawaii.
My beautiful older sister, Tori sat beside me on a brightly colored beach towel, tanning. Her naturally blonde hair was pulled to one side of her face.
“Rebecca?” She said, not looking up.
“Yes?” I responded.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m writing in my journal,”
“Why?”
I sighed impatiently, “Because I like to write.”
She looked at me for the first time, “But why do you like to write?”
I thought about it for a second, “Because it’s just my way of expressing myself and letting out suppressed emotions. Is that a good enough explanation for you?”
“Yeah. I was just wondering,” She turned back towards the sun’s rays.
My sister and I were barely a year apart, but we were in the same grade, because I was moved up a grade due to my “vast capability of knowledge” and more big words. If I was supposed to be so smart, why didn’t I understand any part of what the so called “experts” were saying?
But anyways, Tori and I had always been close, but then puberty hit, and she got blessed with good looks and a flawless face, and I was not-so-blessed. With a head full of mousy brown hair and boring brown eyes, I was totally unnoticeable. Well, to most people.
I watched Tori stand, her bronzed body glistening in the sun. She looked out towards the white picket fence and waved at someone, a flirtatious smile gracing her luscious lips. I was guessing the person was our 23-year-old neighbor, Dean, who had an odd thing for 16-year-old girls apparently.
I turned my attention back to the laptop which was balancing on my knees; an e-mail from my best friend, Summer was on the screen. She had sent it all the way from Hawaii, where she and her family, including her hot and so-into-me brother, Blake, were vacationing. I began to scan it, savoring every line.

Becca,
It’s so warm down here! I wish you could see the amazing view we have from our hotel balcony. The ocean is as clear as glass, and I don’t ever want to leave.
Blake told me to say hi. He has mentioned you a few times since we have been here. Is there something I should know about?
So what’s new in Texas? Are you having fun sipping iced tea by the pool and watching Dean mow his yard with his shirt off? Hmm, that sight alone is enough for me to hop on the next flight back to the mainland.
Well, Mom is badgering me to get off the computer and go to the beach with them. I promise to write more to you later.

Love,
Summer

I smiled at the screen with delight. Blake had been asking about me! I e-mailed Summer right back, telling her it was okay in Texas, Dean was as hot as ever, and I was still perfecting my tea brewing skills, but I was getting there. I clicked the send button, and something else clicked in my head.
At first, I was numb, and I remember thinking “This isn’t normal.” Then, the pain came, and I screamed in agony, falling to the floor. The laptop toppled over with me and hit with a loud crash, causing the screen to go ominously black, but I was in too much pain to worry about it.
“Rebecca!” Tori gasped my name rushing to me.
“I…it…hurts!” I wailed, and she rubbed my shoulders while whipping out her cell phone.
“No!” I yelled more forcefully than necessary, “Don’t call anyone!”
Tori stared at me in silent shock as my vision grew gray and then went dark in a snap.
Behind my closed eyes, a picture began to appear, slowly, like an old television warming up. I could only make out a nice looking room with a seaside view. As the picture became clearer, I realized that it was a bedroom, and there was a person in the bed, a pale person who was gasping for breath. I squinted my eyes, trying to decipher the still blurry picture. The pain in my head had just about disappeared, and with a click, it was gone, and the images suddenly snapped into focus.
I gasped in horror as I realized that the gasping figure on the bed was Summer’s mother, Mrs. Landon. She was grasping at her throat with one hand and reaching into the floor for her dropped inhaler with the other. I was frozen in place, unable to move anything. As I helplessly watched, her lips turned blue, and her eyes went wide. At last, she gasped once more then went limp. I expected her to miraculously sit up and walk out, but I knew somewhere deep inside that she was gone, and that this was no dream.
The scene seemed to fast forward before my eyes. I looked out the window as the sun made its way across the bright blue Hawaiian sky until it was close to setting. Then I heard voices that seemed to come from a short distance.
“Summer, go check on your mother,” This was Summer’s father.
“`Kay!” Said Summer cheerfully, the sound of a girl having a blast on vacation. She walked

Answer :
well it ended kind of suddenly so I'm assuming that it was the website. But at first it was really kind of boring but it got really exciting at the end and now I'm kind of Curious. I like it quite a bit actually.
Happy writing. Hope this helps;D answer mine?>http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…

Is Hawaii a good place to live? (i'll answer any question you want, I promise)?

I already asked once (this is my last I promise), I just need more opinions.

I am planning to go there for college. My dad is buying a condo there this summer and I am planning to live in that condo when I turn 18. I am currently living in Las Vegas and I just hate every inch of it. There is nothing to do here but gamble. I grew up in Hawaii but I never really got to go anywhere but the beaches. I just really love it there and I miss it, like I cannot even explain how much I miss it.

So my plan was that when I graduate and move out of my parents place, I am going to go live in the condo. I would wait about a year to start college. During that one year I am going to work in my Uncle's company. I am going to save most of that money in a savings account so when I start college, I won't have to work more than 1 job. This condo is pretty nice and I won't have to worry about paying for college because my dad is paying for everything. Transportation is also covered because my dad agreed to buy me a car there. All I need to worry about then is everyday neccessecities like food, clothes, electricity bill, etc.

So yeah that is basically my plan. My dad told me that it is really hard to find a job there and that I will be barely getting by. Is that really true? I will have shelter that is all payed for, a car, and a decent paying job. (my uncle owns a construction company if that helps) I have relatives there anyways. So is my plan a bit exaggerated or do you think its doable?

Answer :
It sounds like you already have everything in place - I'm a little confused on the job though. Does your uncle have a job for you or not? Or is it not a sure thing?

From what I understand jobs are certainly hard to come by. I've lived here the last 10 years and have had the same job, so I don't really know how difficult it is to get one, but from what people tell me it is. However, I do see a lot of "help wanted" posters up at fast food restaurants and local eateries.

If all you have to worry about are necessities, then you may want to get a job that'll pay you at least $1000/month. Jobs can be found, it just depends on what you're willing to do. And since you're so young with probably little to no work experience, you're at a disadvantage.

Answer :
i have lived here for 4 years now..so it must be good...but i have a lot of money... i am rich , so living here is very comfortable for me..becuase i have a lot of money, i can afford a big house, and fancy cars, and a lot of women like to be with me, so i am so happy

Answer :
I'm confused. Do you or do you not have a job lined up with your uncles company? If this job with your uncles construction company is sketchy or if work slows down for your uncles company and he can no longer afford to employ you then yes, you may find yourself in a bit of a crunch because jobs are very hard to come by and tourism is way down.

The plan sound doable but have a back up plan for when plan A either throws you a curve ball or fails altogether.

Do You Think My Writing is good?

This is my topic:
For vacation, your family is planning on going camping in the mountains. However, you would rather go somewhere else. Write a paper to your family explaining why they should go where you want to go.

This is my writing:

Please mom, I've already been to the mountains, I know what it looks like there. All we do is climb, go camping, and sing songs.I really don't like it there.
All my friends are going on a real vacation. Take a moment to think where you want to go more, the dry snowy mountains where you can barley do anything, or beachy Hawaii where you can relax in the sun.
Remember a couple years ago, when we took that trip to Florida. You were always smiling and laughing with me. Remember how we would walk along the beach watching the sunset slowly lower behind the ocean, and how the sand would get caught between your toes. You loved that, that will never happen on the mountains. No hotel, no gourmet meals, no pool, there's nothing fun there.
There is a lot to do in Hawaii, like surfing, searching for seashells on the beach, and not to mention shopping. In the mountains you can't surf, search for seashells, or shop. Why do you think it is so interesting there? I think it's so boring, really.
Think about it, the cold, boring,
mountains, or warm, sunny, Hawaii. You decide.

Answer :
Great argument, but if you really want to win you shouldn't say that there's scarcely anything to do at the mountains whereas in Hawaii you can relax in the sun because they are both just examples of doing nothing.

Answer :
its okay but not using such good vocab
and i agree with most of the other people sitting by the beach is doing nothing, it gets really boring
and if ur going camping as the question says chances are their wont be snow on the ground, and the sun lowers not the sunset the sunset is the action of the sun going lower, and have u ever been to the mountains they have the best sunsets and ssun rises

Answer :
I agree with Lee T, relaxing in the sun is actually doing nothing. IN the mountains you can ski and snowboard. You can drink a Hot Chocolate by the fire and build snowmen and have snowball fights. Your argument does sound good though. Nice...

First Date - Should I bring a single rose?

To set the scene a little, there's this girl that's 19, really laid back and a beach lover. I've been talking to for a little while and we're finally having our first date this Saturday. She suggested getting some ice cream and talking and maybe watch the sunset at the beach. We live in Hawaii, so the weather is nice enough to be able to do this. Now...as this will be my first real meeting with her, I was thinking of maybe getting her like a white or red rose as we both are fans of romance. Since she doesn't drive, she's just gonna meet me there as she lives relatively close by where we said we would meet up. Would this be a good idea or is the whole rose on the first date thing too much of a cliché? Any suggestions would be gladly appreciated! Thanks!

Answer :
If you are going out on a date with a girl you really would love to be with, I would bring a single rose to let her know that you think of her. But, nothing more than one rose because she will think you are trying way to hard on the first date. I would try to give her a white rose with red sprinkles on the rose something out of the ordinary, something that another guy wouldn't think about. Take her to a beautiful surroundings where you can see a lovely view or the moon and the ocean away from the crowd. Don't try to hard to get her attention cause that would ruin your next chance to see her, don't make your self seem like you are like a stalker or a obsessive person.

Answer :
Definitely too much for the fist date. Just throw her a few compliments but NOT too many! Second date, bring some flowers maybe, or a white rose if you're dead set on roses. Red roses are way farther down the road.

Answer :
i think its a good idea. i mean i know i'm a guy and all but to me it shows that you really want her (if you really do) and she might relize that by the rose.

Answer :
Wait til the first month anniversary. i think its too much for the first date, especially at that age. that's what old people do for first dates

Answer :
I'm only 13, but a red rose would be really sweet. Or you could get a different kind or flower and sweetly hold her and put it in her hair.

Answer :
i would say its romantic it might even make her day so i say continue with the rose to day or i am going to throw you back to military school maggot ! lol jk i think its a good thing

Answer :
Get her a pink rose. Just one. Don't overdo it. That would be very pretty and really considerate. Best of luck and have fun! =)

Answer :
yeah yeah yeah!!! get her a red rose!! She would love it! That would be soo sweet :))) yes yes yes!!

First Date - Rose or no rose?

To set the scene a little, there's this girl that's 19, really laid back and a beach lover. I've been talking to for a little while and we're finally having our first date this Saturday. Answer :
I'd wait. It shows you are way too interested and eager; both guys and ladies like a bit of mystery. Don't show all your cards this soon.

Answer :
I think both send a stronger message than you probably want to deliver on a first date. Why not a yellow or pink rose, or a different flower altogether?

Answer :
Second date would be better if you really like her. She might be a dud. You won't know untill after the first date.

Honeymoons in the US?

My fiance and I are wanting to stay in the US for our honeymoon so we do not need a passport. We want to go to a beach. We are considering Hawaii, Florida, or California. Does anyone have any suggestions on cities or hotels? We are interested in a quiet area. What about Hawaii, which part of Hawaii is more secluded? Any ideas at all or stories from your honeymoon in the US would be appreciated.

Answer :
You can also go to the Caribbean. If you're US citizens, you don't need a passport to go to Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands. We went to Puerto Rico (not for our HM) and had a great time.

Vieques is a small island off PR (but is a part of PR, so still no passport requirement). This hotel hasn't opened yet, but it looks amazing: http://www.starwoodhotels.com/whotels/pr…

Honeymoons in California, Hawaii, or Florida?

My fiance and I are wanting to go on our honeymoon in late May in a beach location in 1 of the 3 states, Does anyone have any hotel recommedations or areas they stayed at that we may love? We want to do some activity but we also want to enjoy being together and relax and have some quiet as well.

Answer :
Kauai is a great choice.
San Fransico is the Paris of the US.

And one of my favorite places in the US (I've been to 43 states, it means something) is Amelia Island, Florida. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton a few years back. It wasn't super pricey. The area was beautiful. And you can go to Cumberland Island which is where John Kennedy, JR got married.
