Are you allowed to take coconuts home from the beaches in hawaii?

I'm going to hawaii in spring and I was wondering if you could just take home a coconut you find as a souvenir.

It would have to fall off a tree while you are there. Now that you mention it, do not lie underneath a palm tree...... People have been killed by falling coconuts, if one drops while you are beneath the tree it'd be much worse than being hit by a bowling ball.

I believe you can still mail a coconut to yourself (you print right on the coconut). However, most public places cut down the coconuts before they mature because they can fall and injure or even kill people. So it is more difficult than before to find any. Sometimes people sell coconuts in Waikiki.
